Biography
Painting has always been a mirror to some part of me that can not be described in any other way. It is a need to communicate something which cant be explained except in terms of the colour and composition on the canvas.
For me it has always been a stretching of the mind to express that which is beyond existence ,which can only be brought to the surface world by ripping it from ones soul. This is the torture of Painting and I go through it every time I paint because I know there is far more to this world than that which I can see with my Eyes. I have to in essence see it with my Heart.

Thank you for the wonderful comment, I spent 15 years in the USA restoring Vintage AlfaRomeos and Classic Sports cars another passion of mine.Then 9 in Spain and 1 in France, I started painting , inventing and music again, and teaching .Its like a full circle , I feel like I am back at the Slade, Seeing The Lady T portrait is like being given the thumbs up. Its good to know the house of commons were going to have it, But yes I think it looks like she is very happy with you.
After many years, maybe 20 or so I finally tracked Russell down!! I’ve had much enjoyment from The Lady Thatcher portrait and just thought he maybe interested to know it’s survived and is in its original condition, he was thrilled to hear from me which was great. I offered to loan it once to the Houses of Parliament and they were accepting of the offer but then I decided I’d rather just keep it , as you can imagine it’s been the subject of many a debate!
I was delighted to hear from the owner of the Lady Margaret Thatcher portrait, who has had it since 1995, Thanks so much again
