Each ring of this tree holds a century’s worth of history: the passing of seasons, the whispers of winds and rains, the warmth of the sun, and the enduring spirit of the Georgian mountains. The intricate texture and unique pattern of the growth rings form a living tapestry, embodying both the majesty of nature and humanity’s deep connection to the past. An artist whose work captures the unique history of nature, specializing in creating xylographic prints from tree cross-sections. Each print reflects the distinctive patterns of tree rings, preserving decades, and sometimes centuries, of history. These artworks are created using wood from fallen trees found in places of special significance.
At the heart of this artistic practice lies a deep connection to nature and a commitment to sustainability. The artist employs intricate techniques and carefully refined processes to achieve maximum detail and texture, allowing viewers to experience the individuality of each tree.
A fascination with nature began in childhood, spent in the city of Sumy, surrounded by dense forests and the Psel River. From an early age, observations of the natural world were documented in detailed journals, complemented by a passion for encyclopedias and scientific illustrations. These early influences became the foundation of the artist’s creative vision.
Following the onset of the full-scale invasion, the artist decided to bring long-held ideas to life, creating works that merge art and ecology. These pieces have been featured at both charitable and commercial auctions in Ukraine, receiving high praise and becoming part of private collections.
