Rui Albuquerque nasceu em 1962 e iniciou a sua formação artística com seu pai que foi professor de desenho na escola António Arroio e Mestre na Fundação Ricardo Espirito Santo .
Entrou muito jovem para o atelier de restauro do Mestre Edmundo Oliveira e Silva em Lisboa, no qual, através de um contacto directo e diário com a pintura Naturalista Portuguesa se alicerçou a paixão pela paisagem . Ainda durante a adolescência, conheceu pessoalmente, entre outros, Mestres como Henrique Medina , Jaime Murteira , Martin Maqueda, dos quais recebeu um forte incentivo para continuar a pintar .
Em 1981 recebeu um 3º Prémio num concurso de pintura ao ar livre, organizado pelo Rotary Club de Sintra e em 1982 realizou a sua 1ª exposição individual no Palácio Valenças, em Sintra .
Participou com trabalhos seus na 1ª telenovela portuguesa ,“ Vila Faia”.
É sócio titular desde 1984 da Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes, onde frequentou o curso de formação artística com o Pintor Sá Nogueira e o Escultor Quintino Sebastião .
Continua a exercer restauro, particularmente e em colaboração com as restauradoras Carla e Vera Freitas .
Executou entre outros o restauro do tecto do Salão Nobre do Palácio Pinto Basto no Largo do Chiado – Lisboa ( Sede da Companhia de Seguros Mundial Confiança ) e durante o serviço militar, executou restauros no Museu Militar de Lisboa .
Para além da pintura e do restauro, tem realizado trabalhos na área gráfica ( logótipos), realizou pintura decorativa para o restaurante PSI em Lisboa, onde também desenhou a cascata e parte do jardim. Mais recentemente fez policromia de escultura sacra que se encontra na Igreja de Nossa Senhora dos Anjos de Freixeda do Torrão – Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo.
Foi premiado 4 vezes por pintura ao ar livre .
Está representado na Câmara Municipal de Gouveia, no Museu Regional de Sintra, Museu Anfiteatro de Aljubarrota, Caves Aliança em Sangalhos, e em diversas colecções particulares em Portugal e no Estrangeiro . É mencionado no livro “Artes Plásticas-Portugal “ de Narcizo Martins .
Participou em cerca de 50 exposições colectivas e realizou 23 exposições individuais.

Rui Albuquerque, born in 1962, iniciated his artistic formation with his father, former drawing professor in António Arroio Arte School and Ricardo Espírito Santo Foundation of Lisbon ( Portugal ).
Entered very young to learn art restoration with Master Edmundo Oliveira e Silva in his workshop in Lisbon, where the contact with naturalist and plein-air painting cemented the passion for landscape. Still during his adolescence the personal contact with Masters such as Henrique Medina, Jaime Murteira ( Portuguese ), Martin Maqueda ( Spanish ), among others, from whom he received a strong incentive, was fundamental to continue painting.
