Rosie Harper
The Art of Deco
Rosie Harper is a professional full-time self taught artist and illustrator, originally from the UK but now living in New Zealand. She has exhibited in several galleries and many shows throughout New Zealand and has also exhibited extensively across the UK, Europe and the USA.
Rosie was a featured artist with ‘Society Magazine’ 3 times. Rosie won 1st Place in the Art Deco, Fantasy Landscape and Futurism Categories in The American Art Awards in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2019 and 2022. Rosie has many collectors of her artworks across the world, with some clients owning up to ten pieces. A commission for nine paintings was completed in June 2015.
Rosie paints in her studio in Pyes Pa, Tauranga, Bay of Plenty where she lives with her partner Neil.
“My art is very detailed, colourful and narrative and very strongly Art Deco influenced. I use the creative influences and methods of Salvador Dali and Tamara De Lempicka, just adding softness to the sometimes hardness that these artists used during that period. Most of my commissions are based upon this Art Deco style”.
“My paintings are by no means all Art Deco however, as I also paint Surreal/Symbolistic artworks as well as soft abstracts. All of my models are imaginary, but I do use my own photographs for my backgrounds and compositions and of course basic material when composing commissions for clients. I have been very fortunate to have travelled to some wonderful cities in this world to see magnificent architecture and art that keeps me inspired and always wanting for more”.
All artworks can be, and have been, shipped worldwide. The client can choose whether the artworks are taken off of the support and rolled in a tube, so that they can be framed in the client’s choice of frame or left on the support for hanging purposes.
