Paradise in Suburbia – is a vignette of moment by moment life as a toddler – a lost time for adults.

When pursuing a living and breathing subject traversing the landscape, camera in hand the environment offers pathways similar to those of which I employ in studio portraiture. The moment I commit image to camera all logical measurement of process gives way to an environmental alignment with the subject. This is an engagement stronger than any academic rational exercised in my Studio.

Born Melbourne Australia, Helene Rosanove has archived her artwork since 1972. Her working career began as a telecine operator/film colourist for film post production. In 1986 Rosanove moved to Chicago USA establishing a photographic studio. She was involved in high profile projects such as The Chicago Film Festival, New York Fashion Week, and numerous theatre productions with Tim Robbins and John Cusack (New Crime Productions and The Actors Gang) in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York City.

New York City and Chicago, 1987 - 1990 were Rosanove’s chosen centres to exhibit artwork. In 1991 she returned to Australia participating in solo and group exhibitions in Melbourne, Sydney and regional NSW. Using the photographic medium, Rosanove is interested in igniting a visual tapestry of the natural and the man made, often using the light of the full moon. This subject matter creates a linked environment of time, memory, presence and activity. There is a dream like quality of rhythm and movement that persists in her work.

"During the full moon I explore the external world of place to show the moon’s mesmerizing power, its ability to draw the viewer in and be taken to the depths of emotion. I find the shadows and the ghosts within a space. My image, my camera, my eye look to capture the resonance of light and dark, the ephemeral becomes grounded. The moon takes us by the hand on a journey into our own consciousness."
