Tutto brucia (2006) Painting by Altini

I was born in São Paulo (Brasil), student of my father Prof. Ernesto Altini, restorer of antique paintings and expert of art. From very young my father worked at the Metropolitan Museum of New York, afterwards as curator of the Museum of the State of São Paulo, of the D. Carneiro Curitiba Museum in Brazil, and then at the Museum de Bellas Artes di Buenos Aires in Argentine. From my childhood, I was associated with art, and our home was open for frequent gatherings of well-known artists such as painters , lyric singers and musicians engaged in orchestras performing in renowned theatres of the world.

It was due to my father that I became acquainted with all techniques of restoration of ancient paintings and with the study of the treatises on the Secco Suardo and the Forni. There were numerous artists in my family, and already in my early youth I lived in contact with the classic art, with great masters and with the study of music to which I dedicated many years of formation.

Moved in 1961 with my family to Milan, I became student of the painter Valmore Grazioli, with whom I shared a study from 1965 until 1979. I worked on the basis of his teachings and thus followed the art current called the “Painting of Realism”.
In 1970 I founded together with Giorgio Salmoiraghi and Valmore Grazioli the art magazine “Poliacos”.
I participated in various collective and personal art exhibitions.

In 1989 I left Italy for Portugal, where I lived till 2003 in a rather isolated place close to nature which has mainly influenced my painting subjects.

At the moment I am residing in Switzerland.
