Roger Dame
Roger DAME, born in 1960, in the Loiret.
I draw since my early childhood, and started painting at the age of 14 in gouache, because I could not afford to work with oil.
I had a brief career as an industrial designer for a large oil Company bases in the south of Lyon, then freelance as a graphic designer, illustrator in the région of Lyon. I worked for many projects of architects. I painted some frescoes and heavyweight decorations.
I’ve lost track of my artcrafts and even many works due to multiple moves.
As, in the 90s, CAD softwares started to emerge and were taking over, I step away
I worked a lot with airbrush, and then I left for twenty years the painting due to entrepreneurship activities. Actually I returned to my first passion, painting, as hyperrealism fascinates me particularly.
Through my various works, I'm looking for a freeze-frame of present or past time.
I really like Chiaroscuro,
My specialty is oil painting. I paint on canvas, although I start working on high quality paper to refine the precision of my works of realism. Example / My Avatar.
Now I have a bit more time, I paint when I can, especially the Weekend and i wish to be recognized as an artist. Currently, I am still active.
My technique is classic and remains traditional. I draw a sketch by skinny greyness, then enhanced with painting, retouches, precisions and multiple glazes.
Many hours spent on each artwork.
influences: Caravaggio, géricault, Jacob Van Oost, Titian
