With thirty-five years of uninterrupted artistic work, Rébora is one of the most prestigious artists of his generation in Mexico. He is recognized for the vigor of his brushstrokes, his economy of means based on technical knowledge, and the refinement of his pictorial materials. The artist represents the point of convergence between the technical approach of the Italian tradition within the context of technological modernity and the social dynamics of the 21st century. He offers us a critical and delicate vision of the complexity and flaws of our contemporary world. It is indeed humankind, as an individual or as a collective, that inspires him. He powerfully and precisely transcribes a social fact, an unspoken truth. With a clear intention, he expands the narrowing of the world he perceives. Born on March 11, 1963, in Guadalajara, Mexico. Among the artists who influenced his development are the Mexican painter José Clémente Orozco and the Russian-Mexican painter Vlady Kibálchich. His first solo exhibition took place in 1981. In 1983, he moved to Florence, Italy, where he lived for eight years and embarked on a long period of study and exploration of his own identity as an artist. In 1990, he returned to Mexico. His work has been exhibited in several international museums and is held in renowned private collections. Since 2021, he has lived and worked in Tours, France, following an invitation from private patrons to undertake a residency in the Pays de la Loire region. This residency is the first step in a larger project aimed at promoting his work in France and then throughout Europe.
