Robert Hunter
I've worked as an artist and an arts and cultural administrator in Micronesia for over two decades. My Micronesian ancestry plays a big role in my subject matter, which is usually focused on the people and stories of Micronesia.
My work has been exhibited locally in the Northern Mariana Islands, as well as, in Japan, Florida, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Korea, New Caledonia, Guam, Samoa, Palau, and the Cook Islands, and has been featured in numerous publications.
In addition to acrylic and oil paintings, I am a carver of traditional storyboards and other Micronesian handicrafts, I sculpt and do art for commercial/advertising and public information purposes.
All of my work is influenced by the beauty of the Pacific Islands and its rich cultural diversity.
I am currently serving as the Executive Director for the NMI Museum of History and Culture, and was formerly the Director for the Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture, Owner of Isla Graphics and President of Arts, Inc., the largest local organization of contemporary and folk artists. I am always open to requests for commissions for small or large projects, commercial or fine arts projects.

Art is capturing direct and indirect light. You're not born with the ability to do this, like anything else, through work, you learn how to do it.
