This piece is one of my first artworks fully done with charcoal pencil on acid free cartridge paper. Even though the awesome realistic outcome of using charcoal motivated this art, the greatest inspiration was drawn from the happenings in my continent, Africa. The drawing shows the happy sad oxymoron of an African child. In his clothe are people dancing depicting joy- an imagined future with happiness. However, there’s a lot of sorrow in his eyes as he sees an environment that mostly shutters dreams and cripples creativity. A situation that almost kept every African child in fear. No wonder I saw and still see my old self this art.

Technic Drawing

Drawing is a technique of visual representation on a flat support. The term "drawing" designates both the action of drawing, the resulting graphic work, and the shape of any object. It is also a representation on a surface of the shape (and possibly the light and shadow values) of an object or figure, rather than their color. There are a large number of drawing techniques: “Linear drawing” represents objects by their outlines, edges and some characteristic lines; beyond this limit, the drawing develops by representing the volume by shadows, often by means of hatching, incorporates colors, and joins, without clear transition, the painting.
