César Valério, sculptor and photographer, was born in Vila Viçosa in 1976, where he currently lives and works. His passion for the art of working marble led him from a young age to attend his father's stone cutting workshop, where he spent a large part of his school holidays.
At the age of 17, he began working for his father as an apprentice stonemason. At 27, he created his first sculpture, and he hasn't stopped creating ever since.
Currently he has created more than 50 works, some weighing more than 1,500 kg. His sculptures sometimes seem to be alive, capturing a particular essence of the material.
