Ramón Borges is an artist-scientist who explores and studies the arts as a common complement in creativity, following his intuition, feelings, and experiences from very early in his life. He learned to appreciate that creativity, particularly artistic creativity, is linked to emotions and feelings, and that creativity is as much about affect as it is about cognition. Although an artist by vocation, he became an engineer by profession. He obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, then a Master of Engineering from Cornell University, and later a Ph.D. from Penn State University where he taught engineering and conducted research primarily on computer-aided engineering education and the architecture of historic buildings for two decades until retiring. But he never lost sight of art and his desire to create.  While some of his subjects and characters, both in his paintings and in his prose and poetry, are legendary and heroes in a certain way, they tend to exemplify the more exceptional qualities of humans.
