Original Artwork refers to any work that is considered authentic and not a copy or imitation of the original works of an artist. Original artwork can be any type of painting, sculpture, performance, or other media. There are many types of original media. Mixed media includes oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings. For workshop paintings that bear evidence of master craftsmanship, this attribution must be further qualified. While they may be less valuable for different reasons, reproductions and copies have had a tremendous impact on our experience. Certaines de ces fontaines ont survécu au temps, lesquelles furent construites ou restaurées entre 1759 et 1765. Elles étaient plus d'une centaine disséminées dans l'ensemble des quartiers de la Casbah. Les édiles et les notables rivalisèrent dans la construction de ces fontaines grâce au génie créateur de cette frange de la population «kasbadjie» de l'époque. Durant le tremblement de terre qui secoua Alger en 1755 et qui déplaça le cours des nappes en endommageant les canalisations, certaines fontaines se sont taries, et il ne reste que les emplacements pour quelques-unes. Ces fontaines, jadis «source de vie», se présentaient pour les plus belles en forme d'arches, le plus souvent adossées à un édifice. Elles étaient décorées de colonnes en marbre ciselé. D'autres, plus modestes, avaient la forme d'une niche avec un arc en plein cintre. Elles étaient utilisées par des professionnels qu'on appelait les «porteurs d'eau» (el gueraba), qui déambulaient dans les ruelles du souk et offraient aux passants assoiffés une coupe d'eau fraîche parfumée à l'huile de cade.
