Sobre o autor
Sylvia Serra Barreto é pintora e ceramista e atuou como professora universitária. Carioca, estudou Artes Plásticas na Escola de Artes da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro e especialização em Cerâmica em Bruxelas, na Bélgica.
Teve participação em várias exposições coletivas e Salões Oficiais; realizou exposições individuais de pintura e cerâmica no Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Recife e Araxá. Em 2003 expôs individuaImente no Espaço Cultural 508, de Brasília e Espaço Cultural ANATEL. Realizou murais cerâmicos em Recife e na Paraíba. Obteve o 1º Prêmio do Salão Social do Museu do Estado de Pernambuco, o Prêmio Honorário concedido a docentes da UnB e o 1º prêmio do 3º Panorama das Artes Plásticas de Uberaba.
Tem citação em livro de Pietro Maria Bardi, no livro "Painéis Cerâmicos do Nordeste", de Frederico Morais e também no "Dicionário de Artes Plásticas" do MEC.
Professora do Instituto de Arte da UnB, atuou também na Escola de Arte da UFPe e na Escola de Arte Dulcina de Morais, em Brasília, onde mantém ativo o seu ateliê.
