"For me, art is the path of religion and the painter is a practitioner, discovering himself."
Tung Duc Pham is a contemporary artist based in Vietnam, known for his abstract style that reflects deep personal emotions and introspection. His works represent a unique fusion of memory and the contemporary, where the past is not forgotten but reimagined—revived as material for dialogue and renewal. Pham paints not only from feeling but also from fragments of memory—vague images, childhood sensations, and symbolic forms of a time gone by—reinterpreted through the lens of a present-day artist.
In Pham’s artistic world, memory and modernity do not exist in isolation but instead intertwine and overlap, forming a rich, evocative visual space. He employs acrylic on canvas as a medium to dissolve the boundaries between these two dimensions of time. His use of layered textures, dynamic surfaces, and a striking interplay between bold and subdued colors creates a visual rhythm—like moments of memory resurfacing amid the rush of the present.
Pham’s works carry a distinctive breath: classical in sentiment, yet contemporary in form. They resemble abstract symphonies where emotions, nostalgia, and contemplation emerge without a fixed structure, flowing freely like the act of remembering itself. Through this dialogue between personal memory and the contemporary world, his art offers a fresh perspective—where nostalgia is not a retreat into the past, but a source of creative energy and renewal.
