Painting "Waiting" depicts a woman waiting for her beloved man, her protector, or her son. This painting was created in 2023, a time when many men in Ukraine had left their women behind to defend their country against invaders. The kerosene lamp carries a special symbolism characteristic of the early days of 2023 when electricity outages were frequent in Ukraine. The frightened eyes of the cat also imbue the painting with symbolism, as during the time of its creation, Ukraine was constantly subjected to shelling from russia.

The woman waits day and night, accompanied by the cat and flowers, symbolizing spring and imminent victory. Despite the uncertainty and fear surrounding her, she remains steadfast in her anticipation. Her expression reflects a mix of longing, hope, and anxiety. The composition portrays a sense of solitude and vulnerability, emphasizing the emotional toll of waiting in such challenging circumstances.

Through the depiction of the woman's unwavering patience and resilience, the painting serves as a tribute to the strength and determination of Ukrainian women during a turbulent period in their nation's history. It conveys a message of hope, resilience, and the enduring spirit of the Ukrainian people in the face of adversity.
