Peter Pitout, a contemporary South African artist, was born in the vibrant city of Durban in 1977. Currently, he calls the picturesque south of France his home, where he continues to cultivate his artistic talents and make a lasting mark on the world of visual expression.

In 1995, Peter embarked on his artistic journey by pursuing an education in industrial art and design. This early foray into the world of art laid the foundation for his future creative endeavors, providing him with the skills and inspiration needed to flourish as an artist.

His journey took an international turn when he relocated to London, United Kingdom. In this culturally diverse and artistic hub, Peter Pitout explored various artistic mediums, allowing his creativity to flow freely. It was during this period of experimentation that he found his true calling in oil painting, which would become his primary mode of artistic expression.

In 2003, drawn by the allure of the south of France, Peter made the transformative move to the region and furthered his artistic expertise by acquiring a professional qualification in silkscreen printing. This newfound skill added depth and versatility to his artistic repertoire, allowing him to explore different facets of the art world.

Peter Pitout's art is a reflection of profound themes that delve into the very essence of human identity and form. Additionally, his work is deeply inspired by abstract landscapes found in the realms of science and physics. Growing up on the sun-kissed shores of Durban, South Africa, his art is undeniably influenced by his roots. His creations resonate with the vivid colors and intense beauty of African landscapes, echoing the spirit of his homeland.

For Peter Pitout, the process of creation is not just a means of artistic expression; it is a profound journey of self-discovery and a way to reconnect with his inner roots. This introspective approach to art has given rise to a unique visual aesthetic that is unmistakably his own.

Peter's artistic odyssey has taken him from South Africa to the south of France, via London. Along the way, he has meticulously crafted a distinctive style that has earned him recognition and acclaim. His art has graced numerous exhibitions in France, and he has had the privilege of participating in art residencies in France, Germany, and Finland.
