I am a sight impaired artist from Phoenix, Arizona working in oils.
I painted actively as a child, teen and young adult becoming primarily an abstract expressionist working in oil. In the late 1990s, my sight deteriorated; I began having difficulty focusing, distinguishing or blending color, and moving from the palette to canvas. My eyesight became my enemy and angrily I retired my brushes.
By 2009, I realized the foolishness of leaving paint. The long hiatus made me less confident and my eyesight was even worse--like I had lost 30 years. I began with decorative pieces, pride aside, to find my brushstrokes and method.
Painting is a slow process for me now. But, it is again my great consolation, my mistress and my vision.
