La forma circolare, apparentemente aperta, suggerisce un moto continuo, come un respiro trattenuto. Non c’è un inizio né una fine: solo la traccia silenziosa dell’invisibile che ci unisce.

Paolo Grassi is a Swiss conceptual artist, born in 1959, who has been developing a unique project in the contemporary art scene for over fifteen years: From "0" to Infinity. This evolving world-work explores the language of numbers as a visual, poetic, and philosophical structure. His sculptures, installations, paintings, and works on paper give form to unrepeatable numerical sequences, where each digit becomes a sign, each progression a measure of time, each variation an embodied thought.
Paolo Grassi’s autonomous and interdisciplinary education, rooted in architecture and design, soon turned into a radical and personal artistic path. Since the beginning, Paolo Grassi has chosen not to represent, but to construct. His works do not illustrate: they reveal. Each creation emerges from a tension between structure and variation, between geometry and openness. His abstract structures speak a universal and deeply personal language. For Paolo Grassi, numbers are not symbols: they become living matter, visual elements that organize space and question perception.
The project From "0" to Infinity, launched in 2007, is composed of progressively numbered elements, each one unique and unrepeated. Every artwork is a fragment of a complex yet readable system, where the sequence matters as much as the form. Paolo Grassi has developed a rigorous visual grammar, open to rhythm, silence, and spatial intervals. The tension between seriality and uniqueness creates a sense of both belonging and difference, making each piece part of a broader vision.
From bronze to corten steel, from plexiglass to pigment, Paolo Grassi selects each material for its ability to interact with light and time. Oxidation, refraction, and layering become visual tools of transformation. Every work is uniquely numbered and part of an evolving catalogue, now counting over 280 elements, ideally expanding toward infinity.
The works of Paolo Grassi are held in public and private collections in Switzerland, Italy, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, America, and the Middle East. Paolo Grassi has exhibited in institutional venues and international exhibitions, and has also created permanent installations in highly visible public spaces.
In Paolo Grassi’s work, art does not describe: it reveals. Each number is also a threshold — beyond which infinity begins.
