The idea for this painting came from my appreciation of the concept of linear perspective. I established a reference point first and then opted to fill in sections with the various colors. But the painting lacked interest. To compliment colors in the painting, I thought of the copper trim I had seen on homes and it lead me to a vision of flower boxes [...]
The idea for this painting came from my appreciation of the concept of linear perspective. I established a reference point first and then opted to fill in sections with the various colors. But the painting lacked interest. To compliment colors in the painting, I thought of the copper trim I had seen on homes and it lead me to a vision of flower boxes my mother used to have on the front of my childhood home. What to plant in the boxes? This was easy. I have always loved the feathery white plumes of Pampas Grass and the shape of an English Ivy leaf. As fillers, a few shafts of wheat were the perfect choice for shape and color.

Like many, I relegated my love of painting and creating to making a living.  To that end, I earned a Master's in Nursing. 

I worked and eventually taught staff in hospital Emergency and related departments to obtain and maintain a high level of competence. The goal was always to insure staff delivered timely, appropriate, and high quality care to patients. 

I have been drawing and creating all my life.  Training in this milieu included one high school and one college level art course, both pre-requisites to graduation.  Otherwise the only thing influencing my artistry is a maternal great grandfather who worked as an artist, I was told.  

Since my retirement in 2016, I have had time to return to painting with oil.  It's now time to risk sharing my work with you.
