Orestes Barrios Marañón is a versatile Cuban artist born in 1963 in Pinar del Río, Cuba. He is renowned for his expertise across various artistic disciplines, including printmaking, painting, drawing, sculpture, design, scenography, restoration, interior decoration, and children's book illustration. Barrios Marañón graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts "San Alejandro" in Havana in 1983, laying the foundation for a prolific artistic career.
His professional journey began with roles such as a museum piece restorer in Pinar del Río from 1984 to 1986 and a Fine Arts teacher at the "José Licourt Domínguez" Primary Teacher Training Center from 1986 to 1987. He also conducted painting workshops at the Pre-University Vocational School of Exact Sciences "Federico Engels" in Pinar del Río from 1987 to 1988. His teaching career flourished at the "Roberto Diago" Academy of Fine Arts in Matanzas, where he worked from 1989 to 2003 and served as director from 1999 to 2003. He further contributed to art education as a teacher at the "Raúl Martínez" Academy of Fine Arts in Morón from 2008 to 2013.
Throughout his artistic career, Orestes Barrios Marañón has participated in numerous collective exhibitions both in Cuba and internationally, showcasing his work in countries such as Mexico, Puerto Rico, Canada, France, Germany, Argentina, Italy, the United States, and Spain. His talent and creativity have earned him several awards and mentions, reflecting his commitment to the arts.
Barrios Marañón's artistic repertoire encompasses a wide array of techniques and styles, underscoring his versatility and dedication to the art world.
