This sculpture is made out of welded rebar and is meant to be exposed indoors. The finish is brushed and varnished with a discrete metallic glow. This abstract sculpture includes a central object that could be seen as a kernel, a walnut, or even an egg. Stems grow out of the central object, downwards like ramified roots, and upwards. The upward branches bear cubes at their extremity which could be seen as fruits or flowers. The sculpture can be set in different positions on a flat surface so as to suit the preferences of its owner. The global impression is a little puzzling and opens the doors to more personal interpretations.

A world of unlikely objects to contemplate... to dream over...
Of things tall or short, rusty or brushed to a shine, to be set in a garden or in a sitting room....
Using a common, simple, and easy-to-get material, the artist explores a realm of oneiric and symbolic shapes that offer an open field of interpretation to the observer. Gazing upon these objects, one can wander along the streams of one's imagination, drifting in an unrestricted contemplation, letting oneself be carried away towards new worlds. Occasionally the sculptures may vaguely represent actual things from reality, using however as little figurative formal expression as possible so as to retain only what is essential, a skeleton that can host many forms of fantasies. But most of the sculptures represent nothing, at least nothing known in the real world.
A self-made and eclectic man, Olivier Laurens wandered the world, explored various occupations, encountered many social contexts and many ways of being as well as various cultural and linguistic environments, building his own personal universe, independent from ordinary social, geographic and cultural constraints.
