The piece is painted in oil on canvas mounted on cardboard, measuring 30×40 cm. I deliberately chose an expressive technique — bold brushstrokes, textured layers, and spontaneous splashes of paint. These elements create a surface that conveys not just form, but emotion: joy, lightness, and energy. The abstract background doesn’t distract, but rather highlights the central figure — the macaw, glowing against a spontaneous burst of tropical light.
This painting is part of the "Parrots" series, inspired by a visit to the zoo. The bright, loud, and completely unique parrots instantly caught my attention — each one had its own color palette, temperament, and personality. I was struck by how expressive birds can be — it felt as though every feather carried character. That’s when the idea was born to create a series of paintings dedicated to these remarkable creatures.
"Macaw" is the first work in the series. I wanted to capture not just the bird’s appearance, but the energy it radiates in the world: free, joyful, bold. This is not simply a portrait of a parrot — it is an image of power, light, and inner freedom. I hope it inspires viewers to bring a little more color, life, and movement into their own space.
