This ironic picture about double meaning of our feelings and about how our values changed during centuries. A bouquet of figs (in the meaning «fig sign», impolite gesture) is a bouquet of insincerity which is presented "just to check the box», as the saying goes, they had some flowers in their hands and a fig, that is hidden in a pocket. In our modern world no-one wants to get such bouquet of figs. But there is also an opposite meaning of it - protective amulet, that can protect you from contaminations and evil spirits. This fig sign is gesture, that initially symbolized sexual intercourse, and in ancient Russia it was believed, that this sign could protect and scare away devilry, which backed down, because they were asexual creations. Here we can see a manifestation of duality of people’s feelings in our modern world and how representations of generations change.
