Obed Arango is a Mexican photographer with 20 years of experience developing what he calls "the Common Sight" or "la Mirada Común", his work portrays culture, people, nature and landscape. The Common Sight is a proposal to give dignity to the subjects of photography, based on the concept that the photographer has daily encounters with subjects and not with objects, under this concept, the photography becomes a challenge to capture and give continuity to the topic or theme.
Photography also under this perspective is an open door and window in which the subject continues moving on in constant transformation in which scenarios become the social setting.
Obed was senior professor of photography at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and has presented several solo exhibitions in the United States including Temple University (2004), Eastern University (2003, 2005, 2006), Palmer Seminary (2000, 2003, 2005) and RCC in Chicago (2005).
Obed as a photojournalist has covered the Zapatista rally of 2001, the Immigration Reform movement in the United States 2005- 2009, the presidential elections in United States 2007 and 2008 among many other events.
Obed today works as CEO of the communications agency Creative Conzepts LLC in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, USA.
