Nithya Swaminathan is a contemporary German painter known for her vibrant oil and gouache paintings that transform everyday subjects into extraordinary works of art. Drawing inspiration from her surroundings, Nithya has a passion for bringing the mundane to life through her vivid and expressive style.

Nithya has been drawing for as long as she can remember and has been painting seriously for over two decades. After years of training as an oil painter, she also explored the medium of gouache, which she quickly grew to love. Today, she prefers oils for her larger works and uses gouache for smaller pieces and during her travels.

In recent years, Nithya has focused primarily on contemporary still life painting, a genre that captivates her with its beauty and depth. While she occasionally ventures into landscapes and figures, she always finds herself returning to the art of still life. Nithya paints from life, whether in her studio or outdoors in Germany, capturing the essence of her subjects with a keen eye and a masterful hand.

In addition to her still life paintings, Nithya enjoys other artistic pursuits such as life drawing, which involves drawing the human figure from direct observation, and urban sketching.
