Nelly Zagury (née en 1987 à Paris) est une artiste française. Issue d’une famille aux cultures méditerranéennes multiples - marocaine, française et grecque - elle partage dans son travail une expérience de la féminité qui transcende l’imaginaire exotique et orientaliste. En quête de réenchantement, ses peintures et sculptures mettent en scène des héroïnes mystiques et puissantes. Zagury a obtenu sa maîtrise à la HEAR (Haute École des Arts du Rhin) à Strasbourg et a étudié le design de bijoux et d'accessoires de mode à la HEAD (Haute École d'Art et de Design) à Genève. Après avoir travaillé à Paris pour une maison de haute couture et dessiné des bijoux pour Chanel et Boucheron, elle s’installe à New York pour concevoir les costumes du film opéra River of Fundament de l’artiste américain Matthew Barney. Elle est la cofondatrice de la marque de bijoux en impression 3D Holy Faya (2014-2018) avec le soutien de LVMH et d'artistes tels que Rashaad Newsome et FKA Twigs. Entre 2018 et 2020, Zagury s’installe à Los Angeles où elle travaille avec l’artiste sud-africain Simphiwe Ndzube (Stevenson Gallery Cape Town, Nicodim gallery Los Angeles, Museo Kaluz Mexico). Elle développe alors Songs Of My Fantasy, un opéra fantasmagorique en deux actes sous la forme d’un recueil de poèmes, de peintures et de sculptures. Ses œuvres ont été exposées dans des institutions majeures françaises parmi lesquelles : le MAD Museum, Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris ; le Palais Royal (Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication), Paris ; le Musée de l’Œuvre Notre-Dame, Strasbourg. En 2024, son travail est exposé à «Vertigineuses» Selebe Yoon, Dakar; «In Her Element», Mash Gallery, Los Angeles.
