Nathan Gagner has been an aspiring artist since he was a young child. His early rejection of traditional children’s coloring books in favor of blank sheets of paper where he could draw his perspective of the world was clearly a first sign of his talent to family, friends and teachers. He held his first outdoor art exhibit at the tender age of five.

By high school Nate knew he wanted to become an professional artist and chose to attend The Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Minneapolis, Minnesota. In art school Nate was exposed to advanced traditional and nontraditional painting techniques. His style matured and his fascination with light and color in landscape became apparent in his works. Nate graduated from The Minneapolis College of Art and Design with a BFA in May, 2004. He majored in Computer Animation, however, managed his coursework to allow him to enroll in more painting classes than most painting majors.

Nate resides in West St. Paul, Minnesota. He specializes in plein-air and studio landscapes in oil.
