After completing her professional career as a judge at the Commercial Court of Vinnytsia region in 2017, Nadiia Govor began painting, learning mainly on her own. Her journey into self-development was sparked by visiting the studios of Ukrainian artists Alina Dalinina and Fedir Panchuk. She draws inspiration from her travels and the picturesque landscapes of her garden at different times of the year.
Unrestricted by academic boundaries, Nadiia Govor pays special attention to the philosophy of color and light, combining the languages of nature and urbanism. She believes that the cultural code of a space can be expressed or even cultivated through the tactile perception of the canvas.
Nadiia Govor's artistic style is a nuanced blend of realism and impressionism, characterized by a focus on landscapes and cultural motifs. Her paintings often depict serene settings, highlighting the harmony of nature with expressive color palettes and textured brushstrokes. Her work captures moments and places, using soft and dynamic strokes to recreate atmospheric effects. A detailed yet impressionistic approach implies an emotional connection to the surroundings, merging vivid realism with a hint of poetic interpretation.
Govor’s style reflects the influence of plein air traditions, allowing her to effectively capture natural light and seasonal changes. Her subjects range from iconic landmarks to intimate scenes of nature, often featuring local flora. The quality of her painting conveys depth and movement while preserving clear and recognizable forms. Her use of color varies from gentle pastels to richer, more intense hues, showcasing versatility in reflecting both tranquility and vibrancy in scenes.
This combination of realistic depiction with an impressionistic sensibility places her works in a tradition of landscape painting that is both timeless and contemporary, appealing to viewers through a sense of place, memory, and mood.
Nadiia Govor's painting style has been greatly influenced by the Impressionists; however, in terms of inner energy, she feels closest to Klimt.
