Biography – aka M. Kara

Kara is a contemporary visual artist based between New York and Ankara. Through a layered mixed-media approach, she explores the emotional and psychological textures of feminine identity, silence, and fragmentation. Using unconventional materials such as bedsheets, tulle, thread, and sand, she creates textured portraits and installations that exist at the threshold between fragility and resilience.

Working at the intersection of painting and textile-based practice, aka M. Kara transforms overlooked domestic elements into carriers of memory and tension. Each work becomes a fragment of lived experience—a sewn voice made visible.
