Since the inception of the “fixing” project, my 3D works of art have been craving an opportunity to leave the confines of the studio and do their tour of the world. The dislocation of my every day objects into new sets acts as a conduit for discovery, projecting beams of “invisible light” and revealing surprising angles of the scene. This “Crippled Parade” is a revelatory trajectory. It is my attempt to peek into the different, often elusive aspects of our existential experience.

I was still a child when I had the existential realization that things are not right…and that they need a fixing. Years later, I am returning to that “need of fixing” in my creation; I am collecting discarded pieces of wood, metal, and paper that have finished their lives, been thrown away, and forgotten. Each piece holds its own unique morphology and hidden qualities; their individual colors, textures, bruises, and scratches whisper the stories about their past life. When the moment is just right, these different pieces of many origins become displaced and coalesce into a work of art. In a sense, they begin their “afterlife” within my work. This process of fixing and reviving has a comforting effect on me, a sense of which I am trying to pass on in my art.
