Mohameed Al-Aref Abiya

Mohamed AbIya was born in 1944 in Tripoli, Libya. He discovered his love for drawing at an early age and had a strong interest in drawing the buildings, nature and people of his city, Tripoli. He did not receive any training or academic study in drawing, as he had talent and developed his drawing style over the years. He became a professional caricaturist and journalist in general. His first satirical drawing was published in Al-Hurriya newspaper in Tripoli on May 1968. He was interested in drawing paintings since 1975 and was interested in photography and pictures of Libyan architecture, popular collectibles and local nature. He participated in many exhibitions inside and outside Libya, until he passed away in 2016
