Historically practiced by women on mud walls and floors, this art form is now celebrated on canvas and paper, preserving its rich heritage through modern mediums.
This mini canvas painting is a personal interpretation of Madhubani tradition, featuring two graceful swans, lotus flowers, and the rising sun-symbols of purity, love, and new beginnings. The artwork was first prepared by painting the canvas in sunny yellow acrylic, setting a radiant base. The outlines were hand-drawn in pencil and elevated with texture paste using a cone, creating a tactile, embossed effect. Once dried, the spaces were delicately filled with hand-mixed coloured pastes, made using photo colours and Fevicol, giving it a glossy and textured finish.
Framed with rhythmic white strokes and border work, the piece captures the essence of serenity and balance found in nature. Though small in size, it holds the spirit of ancient Mithila storytelling with a modern touch.
This artwork is part of my personal collection and is listed as “Not for sale” to preserve its significance in my artistic journey.

I work across both 2D and relief formats, specialising in a blend of folk painting and sculptural techniques.My practice includes Warli, Madhubani, Gond and a few more styles, often merging ancient tribal symbolism with contemporary artistic expression.I create artworks on wooden bases and canvases too.
While many of my works feature textured and dimensional elements, I also produce flat-surface acrylic paintings that celebrate colour, storytelling, and cultural heritage.
My goal is to bring warmth, meaning, and artistic connection to homes and hearts around the world-whether through wall art, folk-inspired sculptures, or narrative paintings.
