I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art Education and a Master of Arts Degree in studio art from St. Cloud State University in 1969 and 1970 respectively and went on to teach art education at Canby High School and Rosemount High School.  I retired in 2008. While I was teaching, I maintained my creative interests during the summer months in printmaking, watercolor landscape painting, and digital landscape photography.  Over the years I have experimented with variety of materials such as colored pencil, chalks, markers, etc. in combination with watercolor paints. Now that I have retired from teaching, I have turned my attention to representational, abstract, and non-objective acrylic painting.  I have been working with resist techniques and joint compound to create textures and patterns in the painting surfaces as I capture or interpret a mood or momentary feeling in my paintings. I especially enjoy the magic that happens through my brushes and imagination.  When my artwork is finished, not only do I want to enjoy my own creation but I also hope to provide the viewers of my work an opportunity to be briefly distracted from whatever is on their minds—a momentary gift of enchantment and amusement.
