Biography
The first art lesson I had was at the age of ten in a small gallery in Stafford, Brisbane. It was also the first oil painting I had ever done.
I remember being the only kid in the class and when, after a couple of hours of painting the bush scene from across the road, everyone stopped for a lunch I didn't... I couldn't...
It was the first sign of an addiction that has now lasted for over twenty five years.

Starting March 21st until June 1st 2008 Art Gallery at the Town of Seaside is host to the third solo exhibition of local artist and resident Mitchell McIntyre.
Titled "Space Between Positive and Negative" Mitchell's new works set up relationships between positive and negative space that are frequently ambiguous, making us unsure as to weather we are looking at a subject or the space created by the subject due to its placement. This sense of ambiguity is a defining characteristic of his process - in which negatives are rendered as positives and vice verse. Artist will be present in the gallery on Thursday's and Friday's.

The emotion I try to evoke in my work is that of sedate anticipation. I guess that is also my attitude when I work. There is a meditative
feeling that washes over me and mixed with a journey of unknown destination, manifests like a fantastic recipe for a creation.
