Jean-Louis Mireault,
silk painter.
Mireault has been painting on silk since 1978. His first
exhibit was in Verchères, in the Old Mill near the river. He then joined a number of associations: Artisans du Richelieu, Centrale des Métiers d'Art du Québec, a professional association of craftsmen. He participated in the Salon des Métiers d Art de Montréal since 1987.
Mireault has participated in art exhibitions in France,
Spain, Portugal, and the USA.
In 2001, Mireault was the guest of honor of Mr Jean-Jacques Boucher, expert at the Court of Appeal of Paris, Brussels UNESCO. This exhibition was held in Bracieux, in France. Great French Masters of painting on silk such as Lydie Ottelart, president of the movement ' D' Art et de Soie', Daniel André, Gilles Fourgassié, Anne-Lan, appeared in it.
He is a member of The Guild of Silk Painters of United Kingdom, the Silk Painters International News of
USA, the Surface Design Association (USA) and the Cercle des
Artistes Peintres et Sculpteurs du Québec.
In 2002, Jean-Louis received a second place honor from SPIN (Silk Painters International) for his entry in "Hang With The Best" in the professional category.
He received a Silver Medal in 1998 at the Cercle des Artistes Peintres et Sculpteurs du Québec and the Gold Medal in 2000. Mireault also received the Grand Prix Special in 2000, as well as a second place trophy in 2001 and, recently, a first Grand Prize in 2002.
In 2001, Mireault organized the silk exhibition, Contrecoeur-2001, and held conferences on silk and silk painting. He teaches this very special and ancient technique from China.
Mireault's artworks are included in private and corporate collections. He produces a Mireault line of products such as cards, candles, computer mats, and T-shirts with his artworks as illustrations.Since 2000, Mireault has also produced garments including silk shirts, silk neckties, and silk scarves.
