Living in India brings out bright and bold colors in my works. I use all that I see in the environment and recede to a quiet place of contemplation and meditation before working on a blank canvas. The idea of abundance and lack are something that we see in India on a daily basis. Sometimes my works are huge planes of colour and expressive brushstrokes conveying abundance, cleanliness and order and at other times I use found objects and want to portray the idea of an economy that needs to not waste. There is a wide divide between those who have and those who don't. I want to show that in my paintings and bring it into common awareness.

Painting for me is a means of creating, of experimenting and exploring different media to achieve fascinating results. Having lived in the UK, US and India, I feel that my art is a blend of the East and the West and reflects my own individuality. Since I first delved into the world of art over 30 years ago with a watercolor class in the US, I have evolved as an artist. I no longer stick to conventional methods and techniques, but use those skills I learnt, to create whatever my mind has in store for me. Like most artists, I draw inspiration from my surroundings. As I spend a large amount of time in India, my recent compositions suggest the rich culture of this amazing country. I enjoy portraying the traditions of India with all its colors and vitality.
