Michel Moreau was born in 1948 in Seine-Saint-Denis, France. He spent most of his life in the Paris region, where he lived and worked until his retirement. It was around ten years ago that he chose to settle in Charente-Maritime.
Self-taught, Michel has always had a passion for drawing since his childhood. However, it was only in 2011, at the dawn of his retirement, that he truly began to devote himself to painting. He then attended various workshops to learn different artistic techniques.
Although he first turned to acrylics, it was pastel that quickly captivated Michel, seduced by its texture and immediate rendering. His artistic style focuses primarily on portraits, both human and animal. He is particularly attracted by the depth of the human gaze and the diversity of the animal world.
In his works, Michel Moreau mainly uses dry pastel chalks from renowned brands such as Rembrandt, Girault and Sennelier, as well as Caran d'Ache, Conté and Stabilo pencils. His preferred support is Clairefontaine paper.
