Michael Schramer
I began my creative art journey in 1987. While attending drawing and design classes, I found that I possesed too much energy to continue in those mediums at that time in my life. I was bursting at the seams with creative ideas, so I let my creative energies come out in the way that they wanted to by using natural materials; they were my first choice. After assembling and amassing a large body of artwork created by my wife and I, we exhibited through the encourgment of friends and neighbors at a library in Lakewood, Washington. We immediately were approached by interior designers looking for something new and different. They remarked that our work had a whimsical quailty which they liked but they also commented on the style and beauty our works possesed.
One invitation led to another. My early fascination with carving wood taught to me by my older brother Stephen when I was a young boy was coming back not just as a visit but this inspiration would stay with me the rest of my life.

Current Projects
Art and I have been on a beautiful inward journey. Part play, part anquish and despair and part tapping into the cores of my happiness unexplored. Currently, I am producing and directing movie shorts with my wife using our nature art. These are going to be fun and imaginative; we hope to get really creative and make them a visual and audio journey into the life of artists......a kind of music video of art. We have practice clips on Youtube under the name of natureartists.
Memories of childhood inspire art
Welcome to the memories of my childhood and the toys and sculpture that are inspired from that time in my life. I love to image I am a relation to Ghepetto. I often feel that way because my art works seems to take on a life of their own.
Cheers! Have a good day!

Future projects
I am commiting myself to more figurative sculptures. Once a month I want to post another completed sculpture. I will be working in wax with damar resin and wooden armatures. I will receive casting estimates locally so I can oversee the work. The life is in the work, that is where I need to be. I am not so much a student of life I am a feeler of life and I desire to connect with the unspeakable.
A Messenger of Peace
Come in! Welcome! I am Michael John Schramer. I have ancestors form Ireland, France, England, Wales, Holland, Italy, Germany, Belgium and Grecce and DNA knows where else. Though I am a citizen of the USA, I consider myself to be as fragile a plant as any of our world's flowers that stand in the wind to make their beauty known. It is nice of you to be here looking at my art. I hope that the language I convey in my work gives you a sense of the love and affection I have for this earth and the people here on it with me. I have created works that give me great pleasure and in doing so they have expanded my ability to observe even greater details about life. Empathy for others lives is at the heart of my sculputral expressions.
Press release
Hi! Welcome to my art show. It is nice to meet you. My work was meant in the begining, to be for the weary of the body, mind and soul, and it still is. I want to convey the beauty as I see it pass through my hands. I love simple pleasures, a garden, a cat, good tasting food and drinks and a home that feels like my castle. If you could see my apartment now you would see it filled with art of every kind. It truely is an inspiring haven.
Expositions
Will list information here soon.
The various studios I have had
I began in the Northwest United States, one hour south of Seattle, Washington. We were living on three acres of an old horse ranch where I piled hordes of natural materials for supplies. My workspace would be anywhere I could clear a space on a table, preferrably in front of a window where I could see trees. I have had studios nestled in the forest and the woods, by the ocean within the sound of the waves, overlooking a bay on Puget Sound, where I could watch the tug boats pushing barges and in a desert where my only solace and friends were the birds. I have worked in lavish mansions and small apartments to wooded ski resort homes overlooking the downhill slopes.

Art Resume
This is only a partial list of the art exhibits that my wife Debbie and I participated in. We have been approached by various people to design theme parks, be on the conceptual design team for a Hollywood movie, and work on a private children's park, just to name a few of the great opportunities we've had.

Translating nature's voices Into sculpture
Art for me has been a healing journey of self-discovery into the deeper awareness of who I am in relation to the rest of the universe.
I have had a long journey and relationship using nature as an art material. It has been spiritual in that there have been many moments, days, months and years to assimulate the spirits of the natural world that have a voice which I feel I can hear. It is the voice that one hears when they hold a rock or piece of wood and feel the energy from that material. It is that voice, that material matter that is my muse.
