We take many things for granted. So obvious, they almost become oblivious - like the sublime power of Music. An essential part of human existence. Music is to the soul what words are to the mind. Music is the language of the spirit.
Sometimes there is an involuntary response - tears. We are moved psychologically and emotionally. This is the part of mystery and miracle of music. Certain combinations of notes and rhythms somehow work on us, enchant us. Many composers have explicitly spoken in philosophical terms about the nature of the reality that they try to reflect. Music is, in a way, the sound of metaphysics, or metaphysics in sound.
Music also has the power to brighten our moods, reframe our perspectives and turn that frown upside down. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife. Music has the healing power. It has the ability to take people out of themselves for a few hours. The artefact is a constant reminder for the everyday power of music and how it can heal our souls.
Meraj Ali Choudhari is a contemporary sculptor from India. His works are not mere physical representations but intricate narratives that craft stories - Qissa in Arabic, signifies a Story. With each sculpture, Meraj embarks on a noble quest to challenge the limitations of our mortal expressions. His art is an endeavor to immortalize the eternal, breathing life into the formless concepts of goodness, love, and beauty. Simplicity, though not simplification, is at the heart of his creative process. It's the art of the negative, the art of reduction that strips away the superfluous to reveal the innate essence within.
Qissa is a collective effort, a manifestation of diverse hearts, minds, and hands. It's a collaborative masterpiece where artists from different corners of the world, divided by borders but united by art, come together to create symphonies through the meticulous carving of sculptures. It's more than just art; it's an embodiment of storytelling - a singular creation etched in stone and meticulously sculpted to perfection.
In every Qissa, the journey begins with a thought, a spark of inspiration that fuels the creative process. Meraj Ali Choudhari's sculptures are not static objects but dynamic narratives, inviting viewers to delve into the stories they tell, and in doing so, they celebrate the profound and timeless art of storytelling in the form of sculpture. Each of his works serves as a testimony to the power of art to convey stories, emotions, and ideas that transcend words and language, touching the very soul of those who encounter them.
