In a dungeon, surrounded by damp walls, stands an emaciated prisoner in chains. His sorrowful gaze speaks of years lost to fear and doubt. He is confined not only within his cell but also within the cage of his own insecurity.

Beyond the barred window, a balloon labeled "Future" drifts away - a mocking symbol of missed opportunities. The perspective of the scene is deliberately distorted, emphasizing the hopelessness. The title works on two levels: fear robs one of the future, while the strange composition denies even the illusion of escape.

This is a prison of one’s own making.

Hello friend!🌛

My name is Mayra and I am an artist from Kazan, Russia. I started my way relatively recently, only 3,5 years ago, but my paintings are already in private collections of amazing people from different countries (China, Malaysia, Canada, USA, Netherlands, Uruguay, UAE and others).

I create surreal oil paintings where perspective transforms into a portal -as if the canvas becomes a window into another reality. The depth and illusory nature of my works pull the viewer inward, blurring the line between the painting’s space and their own imagination. In recent projects, such as "Follow the Art," I experiment with 3D elements: a cast of my hand "breaking through" the canvas intensifies the "looking-glass" effect, as if luring the viewer to step into this world.

I draw inspiration from many sources -dark narratives, music, and my personal interpretation of things that can’t always be conveyed with words. I believe the language of art communicates what is often inaccessible to text or speech: subconscious imagery, hidden meanings, fleeting emotions. My paintings do not dictate a single interpretation but provoke the viewer to craft their own. Different "translations" of the same subject are not a flaw but the very purpose. To me, this is the magic of visual arteach person finds in it a reflection of their own thoughts, fears, or hopes.
