At last, a series of three Landscapes to present, hopefully half decent for all to enjoy!

Drawings:
I like to work, initially, as quickly and dynamically as possible with the subject, keeping a high level of energy and pressure to capture everything in that moment, forcing my concentration on the essentials of the scene, connecting with it as a dynamic living system in which both form and abstraction are caught I enjoy the pressure of working quickly in this format. We were trained to use and exercise this method at art school to increase memory retention and quality of line in capturing form. I often further work on them in the studio with some becoming the bases for a Landscape painting.
Landscapes:
I try to connect with the subject, using both the natural inclination towards a particular view and some knowledge of the immense complexity underpinning its biological reality, As studio painting the artwork and I begin a journey into uncharted waters, pushing out beyond the original plan to find something more meaningful and relevant. Persistence,trust and long hours hopefully produces something goes beyond ones expectations and still holds together visually after returned from the photographers!
Wildlife Paintings:
I love bringing together these images. Creating relationships against open spaced canvas.
Much more time is spent thinking, formulating, scribbling ideas then rejecting, searching and letting things come to me. Once they have come together I cover the canvas stretcher in tracing paper and begin drawing on the forms having decided the position and spacing.
The tracing is then carbon copied onto the primed canvas and painting can begin.
This method ensures the canvas is kept clean and any adjustments can be made at the tracing stage..
