Matt.B, is a French visual artist. He lives and works in Saint Ours in Savoie.
Coming from the graffiti culture, he created his first works in the street in the mid-90s. The artist finally found a field of expression in illustration and drawing, but it was from the 2000s that he naturally moved towards painting on canvas and brushes. The productions followed one after the other and the desire to devote his life to his art took hold; in 2004, he decided to make it his profession.
From 2007, he supplemented his studio work with performance art, unique opportunities to fulfill himself and express his creativity in public. Alone on stage or in collaboration with musician artists, sometimes of international stature, his live creations assimilate the strength and atmosphere of the moment, resulting in unique large-format canvases.
Matt.B has numerous live productions, personal or collective exhibitions in France and abroad. His work is present in various public and private collections, notably in that of the Faure Museum where he exhibited for the first time in 2017.
Today, installed in his studio/gallery that he brings to life according to specific events, he composes paintings on canvas, is very interested in other techniques, such as monotype, engraving, drawing and even sculpture. The human figure and the body remain the main subjects of his works but he also likes to paint mountains and landscapes that he translates into a unique graphic style.
.
"Unconscious emotional creation, at Matt.B, the work is almost always born from an instinctive and spontaneous drawing, an escape from a wavering thought between reverie and the reality of a world that moves too fast. In his inner garden, the figure both mystical and imaginary is omnipresent, the artist likes to play with contrasts, between the softness of the subject and the strength of the colors. His universe tinged with poetry is deliberately complex in its composition with meticulous work and so jubilant in its execution. Follow the thread of its many features. Get lost in his secret garden between paintings, engravings and drawings, where words no longer exist."
