Partie de cartes : le tricheur (2023) Digital Arts by Mathieu Calamy
"Fine-Arts" prints on paper
It is a process of printing on art paper using very high-quality pigment inks and printed in very high definition. Its level of conservation is exceptional (more than 100 years), its quality, depth, and richness of nuances exceeds the classic photo print on Argentic paper.

Glossy finish
Apart from its exceptional thickness, the fiber paper is composed of an alpha-cellulose base without acid and it is covered with barium sulphate, and a microporous layer absorption enhancing pigments during printing. A pure white color, non-yellowing to light, this paper is especially designed for resistance and aging. It is used by major museums worldwide as it offers excellent resolution, rendering deep and dense colors.

Mathieu Calamy, known under the pseudonym Matk, is a graphic designer who has been active in Marseille and its surroundings for 20 years. His beginnings in the creative field were set in the vibrant Aix-en-Provence nightlife of the early 2000s, where he designed flyers that caught the eye with their creativity and originality. This first foray into the world of design opened the doors for him at the renowned advertising agency Publicis.
Since his adolescence, Matk has harbored a deep passion for analog photography and studio photography, as well as for illustration and comic books. These various modes of visual expression form the foundation of his artistic identity, allowing him to explore and merge different techniques to create unique works.
Coming from a family deeply rooted in Aubagne for many generations, Matk is profoundly influenced by the cultural heritage and the universe of Marcel Pagnol. This personal connection leads him to revisit the iconic scenes from movies that have left a mark, and continue to do so, on many generations of people from Provence. However, Matk is not content with merely revisiting the past; he aspires to innovate, to breathe new life into the classics through his unique approach.
This aspiration is realized in his preferred technique: digital collage. This method, which incorporates drawing, collage, typographic work, and textures, allows him to create unique visual compositions that are both modern and retro.
Matk's distinctive style, characterized by a delicate balance between innovation and tradition, reflects his desire to push the boundaries of graphic art. By combining contemporary techniques with vintage elements, he offers an artistic vision that is both fresh and imbued with nostalgia. Each of Matk's works is an invitation to rediscover Marcel Pagnol through a new and boldly creative prism.
