Salpicos (2011) Pintura por Martim Cymbron

Martim Cymbron was born on the 21st of January 1973 in Ponta Delgada, Azores.
Son of a Portuguese father and a Dutch mother, he soon travelled throughout Europe which helped him to widen his understanding of other cultures and people, learning to respect their differences.
After ending his secondary studies in the Azores he continued with his artistic studies in the Netherlands, where he lived for four years. Two years after starting he left the academy art school in Maastricht, as an autodidact artist he found difficulty in accepting academic demands. He went to a studio in Valkenburg, a city near Maastricht (Holland), where he had lessons for 1 ½ years with the painter Jo Van den Brand, and from whom he learned new pictorial techniques (hyper-realism)
Currently Martin Cymbron works and lives in the Azores. He has a studio where he teaches painting where he teaches oil, acryl, and aquarelle. In combination with the Studio he has also a shop of painting materials.
Style and inspirations
Although his preference goes to the surrealistic style, Martim Cymbron also expresses himself in realism and figurative.
Trying to get a proper style the ideas surge from images that happen unexpectedly; the whole process is worked out and schematised making sketches, using photos or magazines to compose the idea. While he is painting, new inspirations come up and therefore there is a sequence of modifications until the final painting emerges.
He brings over to the canvas collections of images that do not exist in real life, that provoke a surprising effect, that suggests an event which sustains movement and at the same time gives a sensation of following a story. It is like capturing a moment in space and time.
