I allow an internal movement to guide me in painting; there is no plan or idea guiding the creative process.
I put myself into a still mind-state, so that I can step out of the way and let come through what needs to come through.
The creation is not only coming through the painter, but as well through the viewer, who is free to see anything they like in the painting. Thus, viewer and Artist are both creating.

MARLISE WITSCHI, ABSTRACT PAINTING
Marlise has been painting since she was a little girl, growing up in Switzerland with a father who was a painter and sculptor.
At the age of 27 she immigrated to Montreal, Canada, and in 1997 she moved to the West Coast. Recently she moved permanently to Cozumel, Mexico.
Since 2007 she has been showing her work in different Shows in the Vancouver area and in the museum of Cozumel, Mexico.
TRAINING
Marlise is self taught. She attended many classes, workshops and retreats with painters from the US.
Marlise’s modalities are Acrylic paint and Mixed-media techniques.
ARTIST STATEMENT
When in her thirties, Marlise had a Near Death Experience, where she experienced that we are not bodies/persons, but Light, pure consciousness, formless and immortal...She realized that our true nature is love, joy and peace, and that the struggles we are battling with in our lives could be looked at differently, and embraced with peace.
Her paintings come from that open spaciousness and freedom she had recognized as our nature. They often express this play between the Light that we are, and the darkness that we fear.
She loves to paint abstractly, as the viewer is then free to see whatever they do in the painting. Thus, the act of creation takes place as much in the viewer as in the painter – they are same.
In summary, Marlise would love for her art to resonate with the freedom and peace which is fully alive in each one of us, so that the viewer can experience their infinite Being beyond language.
