In '97 ben ik begonnen aan een opleiding Architecturale Kunsten en Vormgeving aan de academie in Hasselt, België. Mijn interesses lagen in de culturele en architecturale expressiemogelijkheden van deze opleiding. In de beeldende kunst alleen zag ik weinig of geen uitdagingen. Deze opleiding heeft een basis gevormd voor mijn Kunst en Stijl van nu, het ruimtelijk denken stond centraal en dat heb ik ontwikkeld door grafisch om te gaan met te realiseren projecten, die zowel op de academie als later in mijn werk als bouwkundig tekenaar uitvoerig aan bod kwamen. Toen werd nagenoeg duidelijk dat ik meer aanleg had voor de ontwerpfasen en de sierende kunsten.
Een extreme uitblinker was ik niet. Maar ik was wel erg vasthoudend en principieel in de stijl die ik hanteerde wanneer ik iets deed. Men kon altijd duidelijk zien dat het mijn werk was en dat vond ik ook belangrijk en nou nog steeds. Er zat weinig artiest in me maar ik was literair wijsgerig en was sociaal ge-engageerd. Hoewel er in mijn hoofd al composities voor schilderijen ontstonden op de academie ben ik pas echt gaan schilderen in 2003.
Een eigen beeldtaal en een visie op de Kunst zelf had ik al lang ontwikkeld en na enkele abstracte schilderijen werd geheel duidelijk dat ik een eigen stijl had en dat bepaalde aspecten steeds weer terug kwamen. Zo heb ik de behoefte om verbindingen te maken door middel van lijnen, en vlakken. Geometrisch of figuratief. Omdat ik nagenoeg graag zorgvuldig en nauwkeurig werk, besloot ik om de originaliteit een dienst te bewijzen door eerst voor vakmanschap te kiezen. De stijl was er wel- maar wat ik erg belangrijk vond was dat ik de techniek in de toekomst goed zou beheersen. Het gevoel en de intentie daar zou achteraf ruimte en tijd genoeg voor zijn.
Nu ik deze techniek behoorlijk weet te hanteren, kon het gevoel ook niet langer meer uitblijven, en mede hierdoor is mijn stijl nu herboren in de stijl zelf. Er mag nu wel gehoor gegeven worden aan die diepe inspiratiebron die jarenlang op zijn tijd heeft moeten wachten. Er komen meer vlakverdelingen, meer contrasten, meer figuraties... meer sfeer.
Ik wil de toeschouwer als een spons vastbinden op een spuitende fles en doordrenken.
