English :
This artwork is part of a series of ten, representing the paths originally taken by Indigenous tribes of the Latin American Amazon. Wená means “path.” It is a heartfelt tribute to those peoples who, fleeing the colonial invader, traveled from the Caribbean to the mountains, crossing the entire territory.
Like the others in the series, this piece is tactile, designed so that the viewer can see and explore it through touch.

María Fernanda Gauthier is a visual artist whose career reflects a profound connection with landscapes, human emotions, and the exploration of both traditional and contemporary techniques. Her artistic journey began in Buenos Aires in 1972 under the guidance of artists María Cristina Dartiguelonge and Eduardo Serna, where she developed a unique sensitivity to colors and textures. She later expanded her artistic perspective in Maryland, USA, studying with Larry Jaffe in 1978, and further refined her technical mastery with Sergio Fonseca in Córdoba, Argentina, in 1984. In 2017, her pursuit of new forms of expression led her to the National University of the Arts (UNA) in Buenos Aires.

Gauthier's work has been showcased in solo and collaborative exhibitions across art galleries, public spaces, banks, and cultural centers in Córdoba and Buenos Aires. Her art consistently demonstrates a deep interest in the dialogue between art and everyday spaces. In 2022, she participated in the FAUNA exhibition in Buenos Aires, a platform celebrating artistic diversity, where Gauthier explored new visual narratives about the interaction between nature and urban environments.

Splitting her time between Córdoba and Buenos Aires, Gauthier’s art captures the essence of both cities: the introspective tranquility of Córdoba and the vibrant cultural energy of Buenos Aires. Influenced by the streets of San Telmo, the bustle of Avenida Corrientes, and the shifting tones of the Río de la Plata, Gauthier weaves these experiences into her work, offering viewers a visual journey imbued with both nostalgia and modernity.
