Marguerite Maliuga lives and works in Marseille. She was born in Ukraine (Energodar). After studying with recognized masters of Ukrainian decorative art (V. Sokolenko and A. Pikouch in particular at the "Classic" University of Zaporizhzhya), she perfected her art and invented new expressive means. After her studies, the artist was invited to exhibit in regional and national museums of arts and traditions in Ukraine. Arriving in France in 2019, she continued to exhibit her works. She participated in the Grand Concours de Peyrolles en Provence (June 2021) where she received second prize. She subsequently exhibited in several places in the Marseille region. Then she received the gold medal at the Grand Concours de l’Académie des Arts Plastiques en Provence (2023).

“The Magical Art that Heals the Soul”

Marguerite Maliuga’s paintings depict a fantastic nature full of emotions, feelings and dreams. Admiration of the ornaments of traditional painting of her country, legends, Slavic tales that impressed her in her childhood and youth, determined her path in art. The Ukrainian Baroque style is embodied in this painting. This plant ornament has incorporated age-old traditions of fine arts and a national ideal of beauty and harmony.

Color, shape and volume are the artist's expressive means. She designs and paints her works as real talismans, whose symbols represented are bearers of beauty, energy and happiness. Her artistic and spiritual approach is rooted in the artistic and philosophical tradition of Ukraine. The artist perpetuates the ancient tradition of Baroque art while developing it by adding her personal touch. She thus participates in enriching the age-old history of Slavic folk art.

Techniques: oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, Chinese ink, charcoal, pencil.

Her paintings are in private collections in France, Poland, Ukraine, the United States and Belgium.
