Un’ allegoria della discesa dell’ Anima dalle sfere celesti al corpo fisico è offerta dalla mitologia gnostica in cui si racconta di SOPHIA (Sapienza), l'ultimo degli Eoni che, non vedendo la Luce del Padre, si dispera fino a produrre i frutti della passione, destinati alla caduta nel mondo della Materia.
